Coffs Ex Services Bowling Club provided centre stage for the summer finale of Business House Bowls on Tuesday night. With only one round remaining and little separating many of the teams placed at the top of the ladder, winning their last round games would be a must for those who wished to take away the prestigious Business Bowls Award.
With sweaters and jackets making an unseasonable return and rain threatening for most of the night, all games were
completed minutes prior to the heavens opening, cementing smiles on the faces of organizers, as all players completed their games in the knick of time. During the presentation ceremony, Coffs Ex Services C.E.O, John Rafferty, praised all teams for their participation and support of Business House Bowls and congratulated the winners on their fine performances throughout, Mr. Rafferty extended special praise to tournament organizers Peter Quinn and Paul Box for their contribution in ensuring the events complete success.
CEX Men's Bowling Club President Archie Sheppard was given the honor of presenting a cash donation to Steven
Rodwell of Coffs Harbour Health
Campus which was funds raised directly as a result of the Business House Bowls Competition.
Winners of the "A Flight" was The Coffs Harbour Golf Club team (The Greenies), led by CEO Jeff Cox with staff members Justin Sheehan, Matt Allen and Scott Carroll who proved to have a slight edge during the concluding stages when they held out the gallant Marlow's Timber team (The Marlow Mongrels) of Glen Cunningham, Andrew Newick and Ryan Newick 105 - 99. The "B Flight" competition seen the (Slimey Snakes) Sam Owen, Kelly and Layton Wouters representing Lounge Lizard Reptile Supplies get to the finishing line just ahead of the (Bald Robbers), Simon Hodgson and Sarah Puttock who challenged to the final bell for the Coffs Harbour Police Force.
Congratulations are extended to the
Bunning's Team of Don West, Tony & Shirley Lynette whom received the
Encouragement Award for their wonderful efforts throughout the competition. As they say in the classics "all's well that ends well" and this was the case for the Rotary team of Bill Price, Bill Langer and Mike Blewitt who were the lucky recipients of the "Tournament Jackpot" at the conclusion of the night.
